Kali and Jacob’s Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch wedding in St. Helena, California was a gathering of immediate family and close friends. Kali and Jacob rented a beautiful home in the hills of Sonoma for their guests accommodation and getting ready. I have to say the house they selected is more scenic than most wedding venues. The first look took place on the lawn with family and friends watching from the balcony. It was an especially hot day in Sonoma, so luckily we were able to take advantage of the shade on the same lawn for family and bridal party photos. We then made the trip over to St. Helena. From the moment we arrived until the last bit of golden hour we had perfect light. I’m always thrilled when the light is good throughout the wedding ceremony and reception. It means I can stay a little more hidden by shooting with a longer lens and capture candid moments. Farmstead at Long Meadow provides lots of photo opportunities once the sun sets. From the air conditioned dance floor to the fire pits for s’mores. The wedding venue property provides fantastic opportunities for long exposures because of the well lit lawn area. I was laughing all the way to my car after the final series of photos from Kali and Jacob’s wedding because one of the single ladies going for the bouquet toss didn’t think to set down her wine glass for the physical activity. She ended up taking a nose and mouthful of her drink while reaching for the flowers. I will never forget seeing a guest waterboard themselves. If you look closely in the 2nd to last image you will see exactly why I couldn’t help but laugh.
